Phillies at Brewers: Pre-Game Notes

August 17, 2012

philliesgab.com
The Phillies were handed another discouraging loss thanks to a dismal bullpen. Josh Lindblom gave up a grand slam to Corey Hart, surrending the Phils 4-3 lead late in the game and taking Cliff Lee's chance at a much needed win. As has been the case since August started, all the Phillies can do is move on, keep playing and finish the season strong.

  • Gallardo is 3-0 with a 2.08 ERA in his last three starts. Over his career against the Phillies, he is 2-0 with a 1.98 ERA.
  • Worley has continued to pitch through injury since coming off the DL in early June. He has been pitching with bone chips in his elbow, which are most likely to blame for his struggles as of late. In his last two starts Worley is 0-1.  He only lasted 3 2/3 innings against Atlanta and 5 1/3 against St. Louis.
  • Laynce Nix will be starting his second game in center field for the Phillies.
  • Ryan Braun hit two home runs on Thursday night. Word to the wise, don't pitch to him
