July 21, 2013

By Zach Geibler

The Phillies tried to win their series against the Mets on Sunday Afternoon, but they ran into offensive woes and a dominant Matt Harvey. The Phillies were shut out 5-0.

All-Star Cliff Lee started for the Phillies against Matt Harvey of the Mets.

The Mets were the team to come out scoring today. David Wright hit a solo home run to start up the Mets offense. The very next batter was Marlon Byrd who also went yard, making for back-to-back home runs.

In the fourth inning, Juan Lagares hit a three-run bomb scoring David Wright and Joe Satin.

Matt Harvey dominated the Phillies offense, only surrender three hits and striking out 10.

The Phillies only managed four hits the entire game, making for a very weak offensive finale after scoring 13 runs in the series opener.

Matt Harvey got the win and is now 8-2 on the year, while Cliff Lee took the loss and moved to 10-4 on the year.

The Phillies will have an off day on Monday before heading out to the midwest to play the St. Louis Cardinals and the Detroit Tigers.
