UPDATE: Domonic Brown has been placed on the seven-day concussion disabled list and won't be able to return by Friday as he originally hoped.
The Phillies called up outfielder Steve Susdorf from Triple-A Lehigh Valley and moved reliever Jeremy Horst to the 60-day DL in reaction to Brown's DL placement.
Susdorf, 27, was drafted by the Phillies in the 19th round of the 2008 MLB Amatuer Draft. After 70 games with Lehigh Valley this season, he is hitting .335 with a .419 on-base percentage and 25 RBIs.
Susdorf has a .304 batting average and a .380 on-base percentage in two seasons (154 games) at the Triple-A level.

Brown has been one of the biggest surprises of 2013, hitting .271 with 24 home runs and 69 RBIs for the Phillies.
Brown has struggled over the past 10 games, with just eight hits and six RBIs in his last 43 at-bats. Still, he has been a source of offense that the Phillies couldn't afford to lose with only six games left before the July 31 trade deadline.
Fortunately, if the Phillies aren't sunk by then, Brown said that he hopes to be back by Friday to play against the Detroit Tigers, according to Zolecki.
Brown said he feels better. Hopes to play Friday.

Laynce Nix will get the start in left field on Wednesday night, in place of Brown, when the Phillies play the Cardinals for the second of a three-game series in St. Louis.
Philadelphia's John Lannan (2-3, 3.76 ERA) and St. Louis' Jake Westbrook (6-4, 2.88 ERA) are Wednesday night's probable starters.
